HOW TO KEEP FROM FEELING "INSANE" AROUND SUGAR THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!

Hello, Dyan here (The Health Coach Is In) to help you stay SANE around the sugary treats that are about to descend upon us: Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's.

It's very common to crave sugar around the holidays for two MAIN reasons:

     1) THERE ARE MORE DESSERTS, CANDY and SWEETS around and our taste buds start to get used to having sugar all the time. We’ll start wanting more of it, in fact, it can be down right addicting!

     2) STRESS & EXHAUSTION! We usually gravitate toward sugar when we are feeling stressed and tired. The holidays can make us feel like that, without even realizing it! So it's common that we turn to sugar to sweeten our lives during this stressful time.

SO WHAT'S A GIRL OR EVEN A BOY TO DO?

FIRST:

If we let ourselves have sweets year-round in a way that feels loving toward our body and soul, sugar will feel less special and we won’t become like a crazy person around it over the holiday season.

 SECOND:

Always keep in mind how your body reacts to sugar. You may be really sensitive to sweets. Sweets may make you feel sluggish and even sometimes sick. So find ways to satisfy your cravings without harming your body, like a few truffles or a couple tastes of someone else's dessert.

THEN:

ASK YOURSELF:

How will I feel after I eat these sugary treats?

How will I feel tomorrow?

Why am I turning to sugar?

What do I really need?

There will be times when you go overboard on the sugar. This is okay! It truly is. The key is to acknowledge the discomfort and rather than make it worse and continue to go overboard, you can say to yourself "Okay, I know I over did it and I feel very uncomfortable, but what loving things can I do for myself from this point on?”

Maybe it would feel good to drink more water for the rest of the day, or go for a walk in the afternoon or eat a nutritious meal to recharge and help restart your body.

Make your health your #1 priority whenever you choose to put any holiday foods, drinks and treats in your mouth. Get around the obstacles and pressures during the festivities of the holiday season and make every day a WIN for your body, your mind and the awesome healthy life you want to live!

That's really all you need to do.

It really is that simple.

I hoped this helped you feel a little more sane around the sugary treats this holiday season.

With Love & Health
