What do I mean by 'Find Your Anchor?'
I'm so glad you asked.
An ANCHOR is something physical in your environment that will remind you of 'why' you want to change your habits and dump your old routines, for good. Why you're taking the steps to make it happen and why you're making the effort to start a new healthy way of living, especially in the times when you just don't feel like it.
These anchors will be like ME, your accountability health coach. They will be little reminders for you to make conscious choices rather than fall back into your old behaviors. When you see or smell your anchor it will remind you of your Big Motivating Factor of why you are doing this for you.
Perhaps it's because you want to lose some weight and get toned & fit for a REUNION coming up (family, high school, college), a WEDDING you've been invited to or an exciting VACATION you've been planning.
Maybe your doctor told you your CHOLESTEROL or BLOOD PRESSURE'S too high and you want to improve that, or it could just be that you want to GET HEALTHY and look and FEEL GREAT!
Whatever it is, there is a definite reason you want to change your ancient routines into healthy inspiring long-standing ones. So find yourself an anchor that will remind you again and again of what your Big Motivating Factor is for shifting your behaviors.
Your anchor could be a MAGNET on your fridge with inspiring words or a PICTURE of what you really want your life to be, that continues to keep you on your path.
It could be your WEDDING RING, as a vow to yourself or placing NOTES throughout your home to remind you. Or your cuddly CAT or DOG may prompt you to change your habits and bring your blood pressure down.
It could be a NECKLACE, a certain COLOGNE or PERFUME you wear or a PIECE OF CLOTHING you can't wait to fit into, that pushes you to stay on track. So every time you see or smell your anchor it will give you that spark to say, "Oh ya! I want to do this; I want to do this for me!"
