THREE TRICKS TO BUST THROUGH THOSE STUBBORN PLATEAUS!
Dyan here (The Health Coach Is In) to let you in on my 3 tricks to help move you past those frustrating plateaus.
Try as you may, if you can't seem to ditch those last few pounds and your old strategies just aren't working, instead of feeling hopeless and frustrated, change your perspective and try these 3 TRICKS that are proven to get you up and over that stubborn plateau.
AND HERE THEY ARE:
EAT HEALTHY FATS
Healthy, quality fats support our body when we're losing the pounds by speeding up our metabolism, reducing hunger and stimulating fat burning.
Make sure you're eating some healthy fats every single day, like coconut oil, avocado, almonds, cashews, pumpkin and sunflower seeds or extra virgin olive oil drizzled on your fresh green salad and veggies. (FACT: An avocado has twice the potassium of a banana).
RECLAIM THE 20-MINUTE MEAL
How many times have you started your morning with a breakfast muffin in one hand and the steering wheel gripped with the other? And when's the last time you gobbled down dinner without checking your Twitter news-feed, totally oblivious to what you're eating.
Slowing down your meals is one of the fastest ways to get to your body goal when all else has failed.
The next time you prepare a meal, set a timer for 20 minutes. Sit down, take 3 deep breaths and let yourself enjoy your meal.
Savor the tastes, smells and colors of your food. Bring the food up to your nose as if you've never smelled it before and inhale. Soon you'll be surprised at how quickly you burst through that plateau.
CHEW YOUR FOOD 'WELL'
There's a reason you've heard so much about the benefits of chewing your foods well. When you chew, the enzymes in your saliva stimulate your digestive juices, which helps you metabolize food better.
By chewing slowly, you extract more nutrients from the food, which makes your body feel more satisfied; because it's absorbing the nutrition it needs and as a result, you'll crave less junk food and you'll eat less junk food.
Plateaus are a natural process when we're trying to reach our body goal and sometimes you just have to be patient and wait them out! The body's taking this time to adjust to your new healthy weight loss.
Plateaus can also happen when you're gaining weight. You could be overeating for days and see no weight gain, until one day the weight catches up with you and you can't squeeze into your pants!
It's just the way the natural process of losing and gaining goes.
