4 Tips To Dump The Junk At Work!

DUMP THE JUNK AT WORK!

     Do you ever find yourself munching (a lot) on the sweets and chips at work, even when you're NOT hungry? Do you ever find yourself walking toward the vending machine to snack on whatever, because you're bored, stressed or tired?

YOU'RE NOT ALONE!

     Hey, Dyan here (The Health Coach Is In) with 4 TIPS (that really do work) to help you dump the junk at work, especially when you're NOT hungry.

THEN READ ON AND START PRACTICING THESE 4 STRATEGIES THAT WILL HELP YOU DUMP THE JUNK!

Whenever you're at work and you find yourself headed for the communal jar of mini-Snickers or Cheetos from the vending machine....

     1) STOP! And say, "That's just not me anymore," and go take your break and step outdoors for a 10 minute brisk walk. Walk as fast as you can and return refreshed and rejuvenated.

     2) STOP! And say, "Nope, not me," and step outside into the SUN. Sugary foods raise your feel good hormone (serotonin), but so does the sun. So shift your direction and mood away from the gooey sweets in the breakroom and walk outside and stand in the LIGHT OF THE SUN!

     3) STOP! And say, "Not for me," and ruffle through your personal ACTIVITY BOX, one created just for you. Put it near your desk or work area. Getting lost in a personal activity box (for a few minutes) can help deter your mind away from scarfing down 3 handfuls of chips and 2 cranberry muffins.

     My activity box contains a People magazine, a few celebrity crossword puzzles, a coloring book, inspiring quotes, a home decor catalog and a stress ball.

    4) STOP! And say, "That's just not me," and turn around and go back and do whatever you were doing, no matter how MUNDANE it was. You'll get your work done faster and you'll be content that it's done.

WHAT TO DO NOW?

     Start making these actions your new ROUTINE, instead of giving into the unhealthy foods at your work place.

A LITTLE HINT:

     Before you grab anything to eat; make sure you're actually hungry and not just THIRSTY, because 30% of the time, thirst is disguised as hunger (Aka: The pretend hunger). Drinking a big ol' glass of water will help you detect if your body is truly thirsty or truly hungry.
