Maybe you wake up in the morning and gaze out your window listening to the sound of the birds while you get dressed in an outfit you love to wear and makes you feel expressive.
Maybe during your commute to work you listen to an audio book that expands your mind and at lunchtime you eat in a tranquil setting.
Perhaps when you hit your mid-afternoon slump, you take a break and walk to relax and refresh yourself. Or on your way home you pick up a bunch of fragrant flowers for your kitchen table, and when home you call a friend for some fun talk and then you have a good belly laugh, watching a comedy movie.
Maybe a hot bath, a foot rub or even a catnap on the couch would please you. Or just reading a book in the great outdoors. Giving yourself pleasure throughout your day will prevent seeking pleasure throughout your evening, with a binge.
Start eating mindfully and make huge strides in your health, even if you never change anything you eat at all, EVER! Start eating a fraction of the amount of what you used to eat Mind-less-ly with Mindful Eating!
CHANGE YOUR DESTRUCTIVE HABITS THAT SEND YOU ON A BINGE
Shake up your conditioned habits! If you always buy binge foods on your way home after a hectic day at work, drive home a different way that avoids those stores, fast-foods and quickie-marts.
If you always binge in the evening when you are feeling anxious or bored, then plan to go out for a walk during that time or connect with neighbors and friends, instead.
If you tend to binge as soon as you walk through the door and step in your kitchen after a long busy day, then have a healthy meal and a fun relaxing activity waiting for you. In other words, what would give you the non-food comfort (like a hot bath) right after you finish your 'already made' yummy meal, like one that's been savoring in your slow cooker.
Schedule in an alternative activity or drive a different route to replace your destructive habits.
People who binge on food tend to be so incredibly hard on themselves. They really struggle to find a single positive thing to say about themselves.
They feel anger and guilt, which in turn, only further drives more negative feelings and then they go have a binge to help themselves feel better, but of course that only makes them feel worst, so the bullying and self-hating thoughts start all over again.
Being hard on yourself only makes it worst. Being gentle and compassionate with yourself is the way to get to your body goal.
